Under the heading of “never-thought-I’d-see-the-day,” Snoop Dogg, in the same week appears on NBC’s Donald Trump’s Apprentice and releases to Apple’s iTunes his American Online “Sessions” tracks. Oh boy. Big corporate.

The big question I am left with—rhythm and tempo being so vital to expression in hip-hop and rap, the genre under which each of the six songs below is cataloged by iTunes—is why give us information about everything from the fact that the song was copyrighted by Company A, composed by Ms। A, performed by Mr। B, is from Album A, is in Genre A, and, as to speed: nothing। Nothing at all in the “BPM” column. Gotta wonder about that. We know that they know how fast the song is. So why all the info but speed? Seriously–anyone know?

Below, we note the meanspeeds and meanemotions of all 6 tracks.

Snoop Dogg Releases “itunes celebrity playlist” to Public this morning-Barry White, to start
The song that Snoop begins his list off with is “You Turned My Whole World Around,” wherein Barry White, albeit using heavy triplets on the drums, plays the slowest, most laid back groove I have ever personally measured–and I’ve measured well over 30,000 different pieces of music.
